During the remaining three days each week, they will get to spend time informally connecting with the local teens as they choose, strolling around the nearby village of Calca or chatting with each other at a café.Īll age groups will get to immerse in another language and culture in a stimulating and supportive guided learning environment.įamilies will spend the month on the outskirts of the quaint and typical Andean village of Calca, about 30 miles from Cusco. The visiting teens will participate in a cultural workshop once a week and a guided hike on Friday mornings.After a daily lunchtime of socializing and eating local food with their new Peruvian friends, visiting kids ages 7-12 will return each weekday afternoon for workshops related to diverse aspects of local culture: weaving, pottery, cooking, art and music.
They will embark on guided excursions to ancient archaeological sites, museums, and natural attractions in the Andean mountains and valleys. Visiting and local youth will team up on uniquely curated learning projects related to exploration of the Peruvian Andes and its distinctive culture. On Mondays through Thursdays, visiting kids and teens in three groups - ages 7-10, 11-12, and 13-16 - will join similarly-aged local students in nearby schools from 8:15 am to 2:00 pm.
